About Blood on the Clocktower

In the quiet town of Ravenswood Bluff, a hidden Demon is murdering the residents under the cover of night. By day, this Demon disguises themselves as a regular townsfolk.

This is the premise of Blood on the Clocktower, a social bluffing game where players split into two opposing teams: Good and Evil. A designated Storyteller oversees the game, managing the action and making critical decisions behind the scenes. The Good team wins if they can deduce who the Demon is and execute them before Evil outnumbers the town.

The game moves between day and night phases:

Day Phase: Players talk openly or whisper privately to share clues or spread lies. The day ends with a town vote to execute a suspected Evil player.

Night Phase: Everyone closes their eyes, and the Storyteller wakes players up one by one to use their unique abilities—whether that means gathering info, causing mischief, or committing murders.

Because the Storyteller manages all the physical game pieces, the rest of the group can play without needing a table or board. Every player gets a completely unique role with its own special ability. If your character dies, you stay in the game as a ghost and can still help your team win. Even late arrivals can join the game as "Travellers"—powerful characters with unpredictable loyalties.

How to Play

  1. 1Each player is secretly assigned a good or evil role by the Storyteller.
  2. 2By night, evil roles act in secret; by day, the town debates and votes.
  3. 3Use claimed information and bluffing to identify the evil players.
  4. 4Good wins by executing all evil players; evil wins by eliminating enough good players.
