About Cryptid

You have studied the footage, connected the dots, and gathered what meager evidence you could to finally reveal the truth behind the Cryptid. A group of like-minded cryptozoologists have united to uncover the elusive creature, but the glory of discovery is far too rich to share. To locate the beast, you must carefully share fragments of your knowledge without giving away so much that your opponents beat you to the find.

Cryptid is a unique deduction game of honest misdirection where players attempt to uncover their opponents' secret clues while throwing them off the scent of their own. Each player holds exactly one piece of evidence that helps pinpoint the creature's location on the map, and players spend their turns gathering extra information from the rest of the group.

The game moves through an engaging puzzle of questioning and deduction:

- Questioning: On your turn, you can ask a specific player about a precise tile on the map, forcing them to honestly reveal whether the Cryptid could exist there according to their secret clue.

- Searching: Alternatively, you can declare a search on a space you believe is correct, forcing all players to reveal in turn order if the tile matches their evidence until the beast is found or a clue contradicts it.

The game features a modular board, five clue books, and a deck of cards offering hundreds of setups across two difficulty levels. It is also supported by an optional companion app for faster setup and a near-infinite range of puzzles. The first player to successfully deduce the exact tile where the creature hides wins the game.
